Travel Accessories that Make Our Lives Easier
Summer is on its way and there’s still plenty of time to plan a getaway. But, if you already have a trip on the books, you’re probably starting to think about the dreaded chore: packing. In the end, what you pack ultimately depends on the location, weather, and activities. But in general, there are a handful of travel accessories that make our lives much easier. Whether you’re packing for a family reunion, a college tour, or a sightseeing tour, don’t forget to include these travel accessories in your bag. And, of course, enjoy the adventure!
1. Backpack
As a rule, you should always carry a travel backpack or a small weekend backpack at least. You can use it to hold all your essentials, plus any souvenirs you pick up along the way. Choose one that’s compact enough to keep by your feet on the bus. This will give you easy access to water, snacks and anything else in your bag. Not to mention, a backpack with wheels will come in handy if you are walking a lot and want to put it down. Or, opt for a backpack with hidden compartments to hide your important documentation (e.g.. passport, cash, etc.). All in all, choose a bag that is lightweight and cushioned, especially if you plan on doing a lot of walking at your destination.
2. Portable Charger
If you intend to be out on the town all day, you’ll want to have a portable charger on hand. The power bank will charge your phone without the need for a wall outlet. So, if you need to make a call or check your email, you won’t have to worry about locating a power source. Additionally, you can always rely on accessing the travel apps you need, including GPS and navigation, should your battery ever run low.
3. Headphones
As you log the miles, headphones help set the mood! And, while traveling to your destination, it always helps to pass the time with music apps (e.g. Spotify and Pandora), podcasts, and videos. Of course, noise canceling headphones are even better for drowning out the background noise. Not to mention, you can also pack a headphone jack splitter, so you and your travel buddy can listen to one device at the same time.
4. E-Books
Getting lost in a good story is the perfect way to pass the time. E-books, in particular, are perfectly portable and handy as you can download them straight to your phone. Just remember to download your books and movies beforehand as some locations might not have access to wi-fi. And, you can even download your shows and movies from most major online subscriptions, like Netflix. Even more, you’ll save tons of space in your backpack not having to lug around paper books.
5. Travel Guide
Alternatively, you can pick up a travel guide to learn about popular restaurants and sights in the city you’re visiting. Specifically, if you’re traveling to a major metropolitan city, like Washington D.C. or New York, you can use the ride to locate historic landmarks, museums, and activities worth exploring. You may even be able to avoid looking like a tourist after all.
6. Water Bottle
Staying hydrated is the key to making it through those long travel days. Pack a reusable water bottle, like a Hydro Flask or a S’well bottle. Both bottles are lightweight and made with premium stainless steel. They’re also double-wall vacuum-insulated so you won’t have to worry about drips or leaks. Not to mention, they’ll also keep your water ice cold for up to 24 hours. Overall, try to select a water bottle that is compact and light so it’s easy to travel with all day.
7. Travel Pillow
Catch up on some z’s with a travel pillow. If your ride is scheduled for early in the morning or late at night, you’ll be glad to have a comfortable spot to rest your head. Although, even if you do forget these items there’s no need to worry. Chesapeake Charter’s 56-passenger motorcoach buses have plush, reclining seats, and footrests. Ride in style and comfort to your destination!
