Popular School Field Trips in Washington D.C. & Baltimore
Maryland students are fortunate enough to have access to some of the best field trip locations in the country. After all, residents are within easy driving distance of two major metropolitan cities: Washington D.C., and Baltimore. That being said, the opportunities to explore art, history, science and more are practically endless. If your school has a few school field trips planned this year, you’ll want to chaperone these unforgettable destinations.
The National Aquarium
Baltimore’s National Aquarium is ranked among the best in the United States, and it’s right here in your own backyard. See over 20,000 fish, birds, amphibians, reptiles, and marine mammals all in one captivating place. The activities and exhibits promise to be just as fun for chaperones as they are for the kids. In fact, the aquarium accommodates school field trips and chaperones. For example, they offer teacher booklets and education fact sheets to make planning easy.
The aquarium also offers programs that cater to individual grade levels. Specifically, The Aquatic Critters program is suitable for pre-K and 1st-grade students. The students will get the opportunity to touch and learn all about the horseshoe crab. On the other hand, older students can explore programs to learn about water chemistry, squid dissection, and animal care and rescue.
The White House
A field trip to the White House is a must. Even if you’ve toured it before, there’s always something new to discover. And, this time, you’ll get to experience U.S. history through the eyes of a child. Indeed, the class will learn all about presidents up close, tour President’s Park, and see history through art. Furthermore, older grade levels can explore important topics like war, slavery, and civic engagement. So, no matter which program your school chooses, it’s sure to be an engaging and exciting day.
Did you know that President’s Park has over 70 acres of national treasures to explore? It’s the perfect opportunity to tour the property and all of the beautiful monuments and surrounding structures.
